What's a little hard work??

This post is aimed at those of you who have been thinking about losing weight (I know I was for years), but have come up with every excuse imaginable not to do it. In my personal experience, I knew that losing weight would be hard work, but I came up with all kinds of little excuses as to why I should have this to eat or not workout today. This allowed me to have satisfaction, but regret later. AND with that regret came feelings of "I can't do this," and I would quit. Well NO MORE!! In order to see a change I truly have to be committed to the change. No more small excuses for little things it's time to get serious. I weighed myself and so far I'm down 10.4 pounds. Before I wanted to lose 65 lbs and now that's down to 54.6. While that's a still a lot it's less than before!!

I've learned on my journey that's it's 20% what you eat, 20% exercise and 60% MENTAL. Yes, mental. It's about where you are mentally. Are you ready to do this? Are you ready to deny yourself instant gratification so that you can have complete satisfaction in a year from now? You may have answered yes, but it's much harder than it seems. Notice that I said YEAR. Another concept I always had trouble with was that it took me a while to get to this point why would it melt off in a month. Then I would quit because this wasn't working. But this time I have told myself I'm not trying to take off a few pounds, I'm trying to lose 65!! That's going to take a while and it's going to take some determination. I'm going to have to have patience and know that choices I make today might not have a huge impact till next year. Even if I lost 10.4 lbs people might not notice...but I do!! Mentally I know that even just those 10lbs are important and I have to keep meeting that goal.

Know that this journey is about choices. Good choices and Bad choices. Everyone has a direct consequence (also good or bad), and you and I have to be accountable for those. Again this is where the mental part comes in. Know that if I eat that cookie it wont' be good for me, but if I eat that apple I will have more energy and feel good about my choice...then make your choice. It's all about being aware of the decisions you make.

Make good choices!!
