Let me talk briefly about what really opened my eyes to my health. I went to the doctors and a blood test revealed that I had high bad cholesterol and low good cholesterol. In doing some research it appeared that eggs, cheese, and beef are some of the highest contributors to bad cholesterol. I wanted to make sure that when I went to the doctors next year that there was improvement. I've done a few little things here and there and I want to tell you about them so you can see that changes can start small.
Look at the butter you are consuming...is it light? I switched to light butter with less calories, fat, and ZERO cholesterol! I cannot tell a difference. I'm not a butter-ton, and really only use butter on my toast etc., but why not cut calories, fat, and cholesterol were you can?? Try it out and see if you can tell a difference. If you're like me you are going to find it really doesn't matter.
CHEESE!! Yes I love cheese. In fact I can't remember a time when I didn't love cheese. I never really noticed how much our country loves cheese until I started to actively not try to eat it. It's all over on menus! Everywhere I looked things were covered in cheese or had cheese on them as well (I may have just been sensitive too since I was trying to avoid it! :) ). I've really gotten to love string cheese. If you look for the light pack or weight watcher ones you can get your cheese fix for only 50-60 calories. A huge calorie savings while still getting that great taste of cheese.
In the summer time I know a lot of us enjoy a nice drink of lemonade...try light lemonade. It's only 15 calories for an 8 once glass. Make sure on any juices you are checking out sugar also as some juices are loaded with these, but good ones are out there if you just take the time to look.
Shakeology! I'm a veggie hater. I don't like them, I'm never going to like them, and I just plain think they are gross, but you need them! They help give you all the nutrition you need so if I don't like veggies what better way to get all that nutrition than with some shakeology.
