Do What Works For You

I thought it would be appropriate to give all of you a little something to think about this weekend...

I truly believe that you need to do what works for you in order to lose weight and that entails a lot of things!

What time works out for you to work out? Personally I enjoy working out after work. I have a job that often leaves me frustrated and going to work out after work really helps me to end my day on a positive note. I'm able to leave all those frustrations at the gym, and go home feeling refresed. BUT...maybe for you this doesn't work. YOu get to the end of the workday and you are tried and find yourself more often than not going home instead of working out. Maybe working out before you go to work (or before your kids wake up or while they are napping) works best for you. Do whatever works for you to get that workout in for the day. It doesn't matter if it's 12 in the morning or 12 at night or anywhere in between. I know we all say we have a busy life, but you need to carve out those precious minutes for you. Heck I even spend 20 minutes of my lunch hour walking just to get more exercise time in when I can.

What exercises do you do? I know a lot of people who run or do kick boxing etc. and that's awesome!! BUT it doesn't work for me. I have knee injuries and exercises like that leave me in pain for the next few days. I have found that weighlighting, swimming, and running on the eliptical allow me to get in cardio without knee pain. Again do what works for you! If you love to run outside...DO IT!! If you are move motivated by having someone going with you then find a work out buddy! I personally like doing my own thing sometimes or I find I gab too much (not that you would believe that ;) ).

I truly believe that if you figure out what works for you, and enjoy doing it you will stick with it!! That's really what it's all about. Finding something you enjoy doing and sticking with it for the long hall. Be willing to experiment to find out. I worked out at 6am for two weeks before deciding it wasn't for me. Even though I prefer working out at night, I gave it a try just to see if I would enjoy it more. So take a few risks, and try a few new things. Who knows maybe you will find something you really enjoy that you wouldn't have tried before!

Remember weightloss is a journey. There will be ups and downs, moments when you dont' want to try anymore, and VICTORIES! Learn something from it all. Happy 4th of July!!!!!!
